~The ultimate guide for overseas residents heading to FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL ‘24~

With gates opening in less than a month, excitement is building for FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '24. Celebrating its 25th year, FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL is known for offering a unique blend of beautiful nature and incredible music. To help you make the most of your experience and create unforgettable memories this year, we’ve put together some essential tips for newcomers to the festival. If this is your first time attending a Japanese summer festival and you’re looking for help with prep, this guide is for you.

1: What Is FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL?

As one of Japan's largest outdoor music festivals, it attracts over 200 musicians from Japan and around the world, all united under the concept of “living in harmony with nature and music.” This year, the festival will be held from July 26 to July 28 at the Naeba Ski Resort, with free pre-event stages on July 25.

Getting to the venue is easy. You can join the official bus tour (Application period: 5:00 pm on 7/8), which is ideal for beginners, take a shuttle bus from Echigo-Yuzawa Station (a Shinkansen station), or come by car.

This year's headliners include The Killers, Kraftwerk, and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. The festival boasts multiple stages, including GREEN STAGE, WHITE STAGE, RED MARQUEE, FIELD OF HEAVEN, Gypsy Avalon, and Naeba Shokudo, each with its unique atmosphere. No matter your musical tastes, the diverse lineup offers something for everyone.

Beyond the music, relax by the Asakai River near Tokoro Tengoku or discover the tranquil DAY DREAMING and SILENT BREEZE area. Spend some time riding the Dragondola, the world's longest gondola line, and explore the BOARD WALK, a two-kilometer-long organic path through the forest. KIDS LAND offers opportunities for children to play in nature, and illuminated art displays enhance the festival’s immersive ambiance at night.

With world-class music, crystal-clear waters, and rolling mountains, there are unlimited ways to experience the festival.

2: Tickets ~3 Day Ticket vs. 1 Day Ticket ~

Choose your own FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL adventure with a range of ticket options. Immerse yourself in three days of music and exploration, or opt for a one-day visit to get a taste of the festival vibe.

Four types of tickets are available:

 ●3 Day Ticket
 ●1 Day Ticket
 ●Friday Night Ticket
●Under 22 :1 Day Ticket (ages 16 to 22, free for under 15 with an adult)

The one-day ticket is valid from 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, which means if you buy a pass for the first day, you can enjoy two days, including the pre-event stage on July 25.

More economical than a regular ticket, the Friday Night Ticket gives you entry from 6 p.m. on Friday, July 26, until 5 a.m. on Saturday, July 27. Last year's headliners performed after 9 p.m., so expect to catch major acts with this ticket and enjoy Naeba's beautiful sunset starting at 6 p.m.

This year’s headliners will bring something very different to each of their respective stages. The Killers will headline the GREEN STAGE on Friday night. Known for delivering an energetic live show to festivals around the world, their set is one not to be missed. We’re already predicting that the massive crowd singalong to the chorus of “Mr. Brightside” will go down in FUJI ROCK history.

On the WHITE STAGE, Korea’s PEGGY GOU will perform her hit "(It Goes Like) Nanana." At RED MARQUEE, catch Hikaru Utada collaborator FLOATING POINTS. Hiromi's Sonicwonder will bring their unique sound to the lush and intimate surroundings of the FIELD OF HEAVEN stage.

This year’s dynamic lineup promises an unforgettable night no matter which stage you head to.

FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL mainstays Denki Groove will take the legendary RED MARQUEE stage late on Friday night. Once the headliners have finished, GAN-BAN SQUARE, supported by FEVER-TREE, hosts a diverse range of underground acts late into the night.

THE PALACE OF WONDER is a must-see for newcomers to FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL. Featuring circus acts, pole dancing, up-and-coming artists at the Rookie a Go Go stage, and pop-up performances, the area is a veritable late-night playground for partygoers.

On Friday night, Finnish five-piece Us and self-described music sommelier Gaz Mayall will bring the party to the CRYSTAL PALACE stage.

Us is one of the outstanding artists discovered by FUJI ROCK founder Masahiro Hidaka and gained notoriety for recording their debut album at the legendary Albion Rooms. With a sound reminiscent of The Strypes, all eyes will be on Us as they perform three times in as many days over the weekend.

CRYSTAL PALACE TENT

If you get tired before sunrise, you can take the tour bus or shuttle bus from the venue until 1 a.m. If you come by car, you can head back to your car for a nap with a 1 day parking ticket allowing parking until 9 a.m. the next morning.

If you decide to party until the wee hours, the shuttle bus runs again from 6 a.m. and heads from the venue to Echigo-Yuzawa Station. From there, you can take the Shinkansen to get home.
